In this TEDx Talk, Nourdine Bihmane – Top executive for a Multinational Digital company and a thought leader in decarbonization – shows us why it is time to change the paradigm on carbon reduction strategies. Being carbon neutral is a good first step for Governments and private companies, but the size of the issue forces us to think beyond this horizon. On top of Nature-based solutions, we need to develop Technological based solutions to address the size of the issue. It is only by combining them and finding new ways to scale that we could mitigate some of the damaging effects of the climate drift.
Why not uniting all public actors, engineers, businesses around the goal of carbon negativity?
“1000 Gt. That is the size of the issue”. Nourdine joined Atos in 2002 and started working in sales. In 2009, he became Head of Managed Services in Iberia, then moved to New York to lead the delivery transformation of the largest account of Atos in the United States. In 2015, he was appointed as the Head of Operations for North America and led the integration of Xerox ITO. In 2017, he moved back to Europe to drive the strategic & lean initiatives on all Atos’ operations. He was named as the Head of Business & Platform Solutions, Public and Regional Business, and member of the Atos Group Management and Atos Group Customer Committee in 2017. In 2020, he was appointed as the CEO of the Growing Markets Regional Business Unit and Head of Decarbonization. Since 2021, he has been working as the Chief Marketing Officer of the Atos Group.
Nourdine graduated engineer from CNAM in France and holds executive degrees from Princeton University and INSEAD. Good story, but we are also de-greening the planet. If we just pump sweet water to Africa we can green the earth what more. The greener it gets the cooler it will be. Maybe both are tied. I don’t understand we can build oil-pipelines over continents but we can’t for sweet water. I think it will be relative cheap to flood africa with our water we have plenty. It will also have a positive effect to africans to produce food etc.
