The UK’s largest industrial clusters emit around 40m tonnes of CO2 a year. Decarbonising energy intensive industries located in these clusters is one of the most challenging areas of the net zero agenda, as these areas are still heavily reliant on carbon fuels to power manufacturing and other processes.
This debate, including speakers from Humberside, Moorside, and IDRIC, will examine the development of the low carbon industrial clusters and their potential to not just reduce carbon but also create economic growth and employment for the local region.
Speakers include:
Julia Pyke FEI, Sizewell C Director of Financing & Economic Regulation, Sizewell C/EDF Energy
Professor Mercedes Maroto-Valer FEI, Champion and Director UK, Industrial Decarbonisation Research and Innovation Centre (IDRIC)
Dan Sadler, UK Low Carbon Strategy Director, Equinor
Chair: Nick Wayth CEng MIMechE FEI, Chief Executive, Energy Institute
