The collapse of biodiversity is being observed all over the planet, and the rate of its erosion is accelerating. One million species are threatened with extinction, and human activities are at the heart of this process.

How can organizations address the challenge of biodiversity loss?

This is an increasingly pressing question being posed to all actors in society. Large corporations, SMEs, start-ups, as well as associations and public authorities, must all address the issue of biodiversity loss on a large scale to promote practices that respect planetary boundaries, consume fewer resources, emit less greenhouse gasses, and produce minimal waste.

Marie-Anne Vincent is the Head of Sustainable Finance at Axa Climate, with over 15 years of experience in finance and sustainability sectors at HSBC and BNP Paribas. With a background in impact entrepreneurship, she previously served as Vice President of Sustainable Finance at Sweep, a sustainability data management platform helping financial institutions manage carbon emissions through their investments. Additionally, she was the Managing Director of Carbon4 Finance, a European provider of climate and biodiversity data. Marie-Anne holds an MBA in Finance from ESSEC Business School and is certified in CFA ESG.

Jules Chandellier, a biodiversity consultant at Biodiversity Consultancy Ltd, shares his expertise by teaching courses at ESSEC, focusing on “Measuring Impact on Biodiversity” and “Biodiversity Strategy for Organizations.” With a background in General Management and Energy Management, he previously worked as a biodiversity project manager at the National Museum of Natural History, where he also published several articles on this subject.
