From new ways to generate energy to helping design disaster response, AI can help us understand, adapt to and even reduce climate change. Simon Redfern from the University of Cambridge explains how.

This film was made in association with BBC Blue Room.

    1. Using AI to create new materials for sustainable development (solar panels, carbon capture, etc.)
    2. Predictive Analysis for climate change — we have a lot of data and this can be fed into AI to tell us more about climate impacts
    3. More people live on the coast, develop an AI system for rapid prediction and allow rapid response
    4. Making efficient transportation routes (done by google maps which has an eco friendly mode/route)

Edit: this video was hard to watch and understand due to its broad language and tired narrator. In future videos, tell the narrator to splash some cold water on their face and jump up and down 5 times before making the video.

funny, the video has really nothing to do with AI. Is this journalism? BBC is now doing click bait?

Best Quote: AI is a tool, not a master, and so our responses ultimately will depend upon our own personal motivations, and those of the society we are part of.

Biggest thought is that we can solve many problem with speed using AI. But best deployment of AI will be to keep watch on climate and warn us as and when we cross the natural limits and that can cause a slow degradation of climate.
