Being landlocked, Bhutan’s climate is diverse due to dramatic variations in elevation. Mr Kinley Dorji highlights how development is highly dependent on climate-sensitive sectors such as agriculture, hydropower, and forestry. Rising temperatures due to global warming are accelerating the retreat of glaciers, hampering all sectors.

He also adds that we must work tirelessly to balance economic growth carefully with social development, environmental sustainability, and cultural preservation.
