i also grew up right next to garden grove, so strange how disconnected our culture is from the natural world. it’s been a wild ride to make it to sustainability lol

I’m 21 and going back to school for Environmental Studies and Sustainability in the Fall after getting my Cosmetology license, this video was helpful in solidifying/reassuring me in my decision!

I’m a senior and my journey to my first job in corporate sustainability job is pretty different thus far. But it’s very cool to hear about yours in Cali! I really wish I had dipped into more environmental science courses in my undergrad, but it has been practically all business and analytics (actually taking my first ArcGIS course now).

Subscribed! Love to support people in this special space.

Thank you so much for doing this. I'm a fresh grads and stuck in water lab, I try to find a job in sustainability but it's very hard, I don't have a experience in this area and I don't have enough confident so it's burn out me. Your VDO very inspire me, I'm not only one to have a problem so I'll get out my comfort and gain more experience. THANK YOU.

This was the video I needed, thank you Tyanna for making this video so digestable and informative! I am considering of pivoting into sustainability after working in legal for 5 years and it seems like pursing a masters is the easiest way to pivot. However, we often hear how different theoritical knowledge learned is school isn't helpful when it comes to real world work. What are your thought on this for your field? 🙂

Currently in environmental science! But I’m considering moving to sustainability since it seems more in line of my interests. I was going to minor in biology because I wanted to work more with animals or study something maybe about that and impacts on climate chain for us and them?? But I can also see myself working for a gov company as well (not as much interested but good job). I have no idea If minoring in biology is beneficial or if I should minor in environmental science. So new to all this! Thank you for your video!!

question!: based on your experience in college, i want to know if its possible to have my main majors and small classes too (e.g. language learning class)? im asking bcus like you, i have a lot of smaller areas i want to know stuff in and idk how courses and classes work in university, like if i’d be able to do the whole 9 yards. (ofc, there’s the issue of burnout but we’ll get to that eventually lol)

    Hey there!
For my undergraduate I have done Business Administration and Law as a major.
I now want to do a Masters in Sustainability from Australia.

Is this a huge career switch?

Came across your videos today and they're really easy to watch and informative. What advice would you have for someone who is trying to transition into esg/sustainability from a different industry (eg asset management)?

TYANNA!! Just wanted to say I love the brand you've built for yourself when it comes to this field. You're already the first person that comes to mind when I think sustainability because of your presence on social media (we know each other from school). Now that I'm trying to make a career transition towards organizational sustainability… well I find you on YouTube too!😂 Truly believe you will help to fill that communication gap between the people and science, keep up the great work, you are inspiring(:

💚Thank you for sharing this personal journey. It seems that for many people, starting a career in sustainability started with a random event that hooked us. For you it was this course, in my case it was designing my first sustainable building (a so called Passivhaus back in 2004). There are so many ways of starting a career in sustainability and I can really encourage everyone to do so. The world needs you 💚

I’m so happy I came across this YouTube channel today. I am currently in my last semester for my masters degree in sustainability for urban environment in NYC and this video helped me feel less overwhelmed for what’s for to come in my career path. Thank you so much for this! 🤍

Very inspiring! With a master degree in urban ecological planning and just resigned from another grad school in Netherlands partly due to the fact that my colleagues are younger than me . Turning 31 I’m going through your undergrads experience since I didn’t have the freedom exploring much under the Chinese educational system (5 years for my degree). My parents forced me to enter the industry (mining) I’m not interested in and feel unethical about. After countless arguments and strikes, they finally let go. And I am expecting study offers in Sustainability Management and Climate Change Management. Anyway thanks for the video💜

Thank you SO much for this! I have felt really lost and overwhelmed recently. I am so glad I found your channel! There seems to be very little information about a step-by-step process to obtain a sustainability career. I am currenly finishing my undergrad with a minor in sustainability and might look into grad school! You have given me hope! I live in Calfornia, and will look into Bren School, UC Santa Barbara. Thank you again!! 💜
