This is the Cloudboom Strike. It is not the shoe Helen Obiri used to win the Boston Marathon 2023. It’s not the shoe she used to win the Boston Marathon 2024. And I don’t think it’s the shoe she’ll wear in the Olympics in Paris. So why is On releasing this shoe? And who is it for? It’s time to lace up the Cloudboom Strike and take it for a run

ON Cloud have been making massive progress on their running shoes where it matters: they're performing really well – and don't forget the very nice designs & looks which cannot be denied at all

Do you think a “bigger, stronger” runner would be able to get down into the foam more and therefore enjoy it more?

Surprised yours was glued in.. it’s sitting right on the carbon plate.

I've never tried on.. this might be the shoe to do it when the light spray drops

So interesting, I tried this on side by side with an adios pro 3 and found it to be so much more cushioned and soft feeling

On have some sponsored triathletes, not least of all Kristian Blummenfelt. Highly unlikely they'll use a lightspray model, unless they want to spend 3 mins in transition, so suspect that might be where we see this model?

I've never been drawn to on shoes, but the cloudboom strike lightspray absolutely calls my name, so expensive but im going to try and get a pair for resale if anything.

Looks like a great shoe… but the price, not so much.

Do you this heel build suits heel strikers since the impact on the forefoot is less compared you for example?

Haven't tried any ON shoes yet, they're just crazy expensive!

So I bought this shoe from Fleet Feet, I haven’t gotten a chance to run in it yet. But I did wear it to the grocery store, and to the YMCA for leg day.

I will agree I didn’t feel any plushness in the forefoot foam. It’s very dense, all the love went to the heel. It’s like an expensive Streakfly with its lightness, and soft heel. But it’s missing the soft pad in the forefoot that the Streakfly had. When walking around I felt like I was wearing a low heel, with how the back is just slapped on with no gradual curve.

I will keep them if they are good or not for running, because I absolutely love the way they look. I did see a lot of eyes on them as I went about my day and 2 actual compliments/questions about the shoes.

They are stable to me, and not uncomfortable but I wouldn’t take them on holiday and pick them to walk around a new city. Running errands and such, they do just fine.

Hello – these clouds now seem smaller than startup years. So maybe more just a cosmetic signature for On Cloud and a bit of a gimmick especially as now fewer and smaller. Is really any benefit over just having more energy return pebax foam to fill in these clouds? Think over past 30 yrs other shoe companies using these type open area. And too nike has the air max shoes with captured air inside under most of shoe but not in there premium running shoes so maybe bit of gimmick too.

How would you categorize stability? I know it’s not something you focus on, but as On shoes have lately had wider bases, I wonder if this can be a big dude’s race day shoe. Forgive me if I missed it, but also didn’t hear typical TTS or not statement.

It’s a beautifully designed shoe if nothing else. I’ve bought a pair but I may return them, not sure I can do them justice.

On is #OnBrand as usual with this shoe…where perhaps its biggest downside is found in opportunity cost. On's made perhaps an above average shoe, but in comparison to what else is available in the market…just so many better alternatives out there for your $$$.

The buying guide comparisons were very useful and telling in this one. I had been curious about the CB Strike, but I feel like I can take a pass on it without FOMO. Much appreciated! 🙏

In my humble opinion, On Cloudboom Strike is a great overall 2024 surprise, much more fun to run than the Alphafly 3, metaspeed sky Paris. I am very pleased with the experience in it so far.

Yo, what’s going ON!! I don’t know what it is in On shoes, but the only pair i have tried and kind of liked. Was the cloudmonster. But after a few minutes on the treadmill, they felt kind of weird for me 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️. But maybe some day, they’ll make a shoe that i can buy and run in it 🤞🏼

They already have a gigantic On logo on the outside of the show. Do we really need a glaring "ON RUNNING" on the inside too?

I get that On and Puma are trying to break into the market more, but I really feel this wasn't the way to go.
