And y’all wonder why the new cars always have problems ,people really believe that synthetic can last 10k miles 🤣
Read your owners book, will tell you what oil to use.
The oil can’t be no 20k miles but maybe you can push the filter to 10k just change the oil at 5k. If you drive it with in a year. Of mix traffic.
I keep my oil changed every 6000k miles without skip since it had 26k miles, should I go ahead and move over to synthetic oil in my 2016 Equinox since it has over 100k miles now?

Which oil should I use? My car is nissan versa 2007 1.8 litter engine, mileage is almost 217000km, my recommended engine oil is 5w30, I want to use High millage synthetic oil. Should I use 10w30 or 5w30, It's summer time in Vancouver, but it rains a lot. The weather is mostly 9 to 17 degrees Celsius here during summer. I drive a lot like every day for 8 to 10 hrs.
Hi Scotty I got electric vehicle I can't find the drain plug or the dipstick can you help me
Good luck finding conventional oil now.
Man, I wonder who takes over the channel at now that Scotty is passed away. Probably YouTube.
@ scotty kilmer …Sir i have a honda civic that uses 0-20 synthetic oil, my wife accidentally added 2 quarts of 5-20wsynthetic oil will that be ok for just this time or should i drain all of it and just do the 0-20w , i don't want to damage the engine, thank you sir for all that you do.
Just do conventional oil if you drive 5k mi a year and use synthetic if you drive more than 7 thousand miles a year. Simple.
I have a question. In 2015-16 while living in Germany we had a rental car, a 2015 Opel. After we had driven it for some time I took it in to a dealer to have the oil changed. To my surprise they informed me that the oil was good for 100,000 Kilometers or one year, whichever came first. I was greatly surprised by this to say the least. We drove the car for the rest of the time we were there without ever changing the oil. The car appeared to suffer no damage. What is your opinion?
My 2007 subi 2003 maxima and 73 maverick all take the same oil 5/30 conventional
2:00 – synthetic oil n change less often.
Scotty, we have a 2012 F-150 Lariat 5.0 4×4 with nearly 146,000 miles. We drive about 8,000 miles per year. We have been using Conventional Oil for 5 years when we get oil changes. Is it ok to continue using C.O.?
Scotty – oil is one of the most talked about topics amongst men especially. I keep it simple. AMSOIL Signature Series every 3000 miles. Or if you only put 600 miles on vehicle a year, AMSOIL Signature once per year AND….ONLY AMSOIL filters – best in class – lowest micron filtration. SIMPLE. KEEP IT SIMPLE. Cost is not part of equation if you care about the longevity of your engine – no comparison between AMSOIL and any other brand. AMSOIL is BEST IN CLASS. BEST IN THE WORLD. My only exception: if you have a high mileage vehicle that uses oil, at that point only, you begin getting a loss for your money. At that point only, I would switch to a lower cost but still high quality oil such as Valvoline, and take vehicle to your local Valvoline oil shop.
Can i use unopen oil thats over 10 years old?
I changed the oil on my new truck on accident from conventional to synthetic about a year ago on accident.
No problems thank god I was holding my breath for the first few oil changes.
Scotty I have a 1974 ford f250. Any Conventional oil you'd recommend that's found locally?
I have a 03 mustang gt with a v8 4.6L I live in California where the weather is bipolar I was told to use 10-30w but I really don’t know which one to even get? Any recommendations?
I change my full synthetic at 5000 with the filter and my impala seems to like that schedule most of the times it’s a lil before I would rather change it sooner then later.

What specific oil do you recommend for 1999 Lincoln Navigator? 120,000mi.
Don't drive it often. Just to grocery store 2 or 3 times a month.
However, I do use it for Ski trips a few times a year. (400 mi each way).
Drive it less than 5000mi. year.
Just had Master Cylinder and Spark Plug replaced.
Coil replaced few months ago.
Mechanic told me engine may need to be replaced/rebuilt soon, due to carbon from engine getting on spark plug.
He suggested Pennzoil Conventional Oil.
What do you think?

Can i ask you a question Scotty ? This just happened to me this week. I took my car for an oil change. I have a Civic (1996) i have always had it and always put in Castrol 5/30. My macanic , that i have had for 4 years now decided to change the oil without telling me and puts in synthetic oil. Took the car for a long drive, with some hills i must say and i come back check the oil the next day half of the oil is gone !!! Should i go back to Castrol now or stay with synthetic oil (my car did not take oil before this)
Hi there, i am learning so much from you Scotty !! Keep up the good work.🤗😄😃
The real problem with extended oil change intervals is the extended accumulation of fine debris particles in the oil, itself.
No matter how wonderful an oil may be, contaminants circulating across engine wear surfaces accelerates engine wear.
Change the oil every 3,000 miles, especially if driving in urban traffic.
Yes , truckers don't change oil as much but keep in mind for an 18 wheeler that would be 15 gallons of oil. That would probably be around $300 dollars, if you were lucky
That was soooo coollll video!!!! I loved it!!!!! This guy is awesomeeee!!!! 👏👏👏😂😂😂
CAN YOU PLEASE DO A VIDEO ON AMSOIL
i love this guy already 😂
Will it cause damage to use 5-30 in Florida in a 2018 Subaru Legacy?
The oil cap on my vehicle doesn't say what to use. Luckily I know how to read an owners manual.
SO WHAT DO WE DO NOW WHEN CONVENTIONAL IS NOT AVAILABLE ANYWHERE AND WE HAVE A 2010 SRX WITH 170,000 MILES? CAN I SWITCH TO FULL SYNTHETIC OR AT LEAST SYNTHETIC BLEND? THANKS
I have a 1998 Honda Accord EX 2.3L ENGINE with 225K that takes 5W30 OIL! Is A SYNTHETIC BLEND oil OK to use?
Nah oil change every 3k, synthetic.
Thanks for all of your great tips Scotty Kilmer…✌️
Hey, Scotty, this is Tim. They have a plug that you plug into your car Under the Steering wheel And it's supposed to reduce the gas that you use. My question is, do you know if that actually works?
There are car’s manufacturers recommendations to change oil after certain mileage or time …, But the mileage interval for the same car new or old are given the same, which is not realistic. We can buy in the store devices or stripes to verify actual level of acidity or alkalinity in antifreeze, also with special stripes we can verify level of degradation of brake fluid Recently on the market I searched online a few engine oil testers and in Europe some stripes. Would like to know from Your recommendation which one is reliable.
Wow Scotty, you might be saving $10 a year!
It’s rare to see Scotty is unbottoned his shirt😂

Thanks for your advice and putting out your videos
I bought a 2002 Toyota corolla for $100 bucks it been sitting 5 yrs brakes all locked up. But anyway it runs great I fixed the brakes and cleaned do I need to put 5w 30 or something thicker
What Scotty said is what I told this mechanic, and he said in all my 20 years of experience he has never had a problem using synthetic oil on an old engine and is why they don't carry conventional oil. I declined he do the service and took it somewhere else.
I've been changing my oil on multiple vehicles and other engines (bigger and smaller) for 30 years. All thing being equal/similar, synthetic oil keeps engine cleaner and smoother running. I wouldn't go by run more miles/hours on syn because you can. Just change it at due intervals and you are good. Switching to syn oil on old engine is a bad idea though.
