The Green Party will have exceeded their expectations in the run up to this election. Yet, they also face a dilemma now. They are unlikely to get more media attention, but they could well find themselves an easy target for Labour with their NIMBY behaviour. But they do have an alternative, albeit also risky strategy, available. Where do they think their best chances lay: focusing on areas more in tune with their principles, or sacrificing their principles on the quiet?

Only option is to have a progressive green, and a conservationist green party

I think it is too easy to dismiss any protest to solar farms etc as nimbyism. I would imagine the Greens are also taking biodiversity into account.

One of the issues is what counts as "green investment". in my neighbourhead, it means powerlines so that power generated up north can be shipped south. So the local benefit is essentially nothing, but it has a large cost that looks good at a high level.

You are now seeing the hypocrisy that is an inherent inall Green Parties. In Ireland, the Green Party are the most treacherous hypocritical party in the Dàil. They would show their arses in Brown Thomas's window fro seat at the cabinet table. Their interest is in lining their own pockets and sod the electorate. They face oblivion (again) after the next Irish general election.

As a Green Party member who watches a good 90% of your videos, i agree: this NIMBYism needs addressed. I'm of the believe that if we want to actually make some real progress, at the next election we need to move our focus to the cities – especially the university cities.

What they really should do is push for PR they have a big enough voting block under a pr system that they can actualy really influence policy's. Strangely enough they should join reform in that regard and i'm pretty sure the Libdems will join the club.

A lot of this in not true. And quite disappointing that you haven’t the same level of nuance snd research as usual it actually quite disingenuous!
What greens are saying is look at infrastructure first so that deployment is both efficient and ecologically sound. That’s the principle – Labour are in panic mode and will throw up buildings and projects anywhere without sufficient planning and future/ecological considerations.
You really ought to know better, but obviously partisan.

11:59 – The greens focused all of their campaigning efforts on winning four seats and won them. They came second in many seats with no ground game in those areas. I’m impressed with the amount of shit Phil talks whilst simultaneously knowing nothing 😂

Gaslighting voters to vote for Labour to get the tories out won’t work at the next election. Greens came second in many seats with younger and more progressive voters who don’t have any reason to vote Labour. I can see them taking away many Labour seats in London and that will just spread to more urban seats. The whole Greens are NIMBYS just doesn’t wash with these voters. Phil clearly doesn’t know anything about the Green Party and is just parroting Labour attack lines, good luck at the next election though mate!!!

Didn't you say before that the tories put up the capital to start the Green Party? Aren't the tories notoriously NIMBYish? Should I keep going?

I'm the opposite of a NIMBY. A YBMIN.
    Yes, build more infrastructure nearby.

I'm not sure you know the green agenda. There are many avenues to consider before taking an major decision on the consequences in and on local environmental issues, such as biodiversity, ecological water systems, forest and wildlife before public transport and sustainable energy sources decisions.

Where are voters going to go when they realise that Starmer's Labour is just the old Tories rebranded?
    Same sponsors, same policies.

I think that the Greens will make progress in forthcoming elections, not least because there are a good few folk out there who are daft enough to vote for them😂😂😂

The biggest problem with the greens is their loose relationship with science. And that hasn't changed since I was at school 45 years ago.

Interesting. The greens win locally because people are prepared to take a risk. They should build on this thinking to develop policies.
