My trigger food was candy. My mother never let us have sweets growing up. With my own children, I place a bowl of candy on the counter. At first, they gobbled it down because they're kids. Now they seldom even look at it. They don't overindulge in sugary snacks or foods because I let them eat it. They're kids!! My children are healthy and don't have any food insecurities. 😊

Tip 7 works tremendously. I live in a studio and I have a habit of keeping my galon of water in the center of my room bc I used to keep forgetting to drink water. I also do this with bananas so I won’t reach for a cookie or buy cake online if I’m craving for something sweet and creamy in general

I was looking up healthy weight loss and the first 10 videos were just "extreme transformation in 10 days" and bs like that from unqualified people. This is the first thing I found that had anything to do with health and sustainability, that was backed by research and took a gentle approach. Thank you so much!

For me it’s chocolate!!! I can’t live without sugar, it seems. I finally tried a chocolate (and other sugary flavors) of a no sugar high protein shake. It’s live a milkshake to me (well, almost lol) It works and doesn’t make me want to snack again one hour later! 🥰

I'm overweight and for me it makes my body sick, I also have an eating disorder. Watching these videos helps me feel in control! My doctor says that loosing weight in a healthy way can help me overcome the side effects a mentally based disorder has caused! Reading books about nutrition and health also help. I really love Michal Pollans Botany of Desire and Cooked!

How are carbs "lacking the hunger crushing combo" when they're more satiating than fat? Also why did you mention desserts, even though desserts are full of fat and topped with berries? Seems to me by your logic they should be fairly filling. Also how are 'healthy fats' more filling than unhealthy fats? I read in a study omega 3 actually increases hunger compared to placebo. And omega 3 is like the healthiest fat ever.

I think the biggest reason that exercise can contribute to weight loss is that when we feel better, have more energy, and more mental alertness (which working out can do), we can more easily make better food choices. Also working out has helped me shift my view of food as fuel to help me get stronger to progress in my workouts.

I found an app called See How You Eat. I use it to take time stamped photos of everything I eat in a day, so at a glance I can see if I’m eating well or what I might need to change.

This is, honestly, one of the best videos anyone has made on health and weight loss. Thank you Abbey! Brilliant.

This is especially good for women. All of the women in the west, myself included, have been told their whole life to eat less and be thinner. We have put way to much pressure on ourselves to be perfect when none of us are.

My goal is to demonstrate to my kids how to have a healthy relationship with food and be healthy for life!

Thank you for such a life giving video!

Blessings from the west in the U.S.

I hate that weight loss is looked at as bad now, people and dieticians seem to forget that people dont just suffer from anorexia, bulimia, and orthorexia, but also food addiction and obesity and bmi overweight all very dangerous too, suffering to turn it around to a healthy bmi to escape severe health issues from diabetes to heart disease and circulation issues to osteo arthritis and more, if ur over a normal bmi it sucks you cant get the help you need from a registered diatician as they all seem to be subscribing to hate mongering and bandwagon think that are making weight loss a bad taboo thing now. If ur over a normal bmi it doesnt mean ur ugly it means you're in danger of serve health issues period whether we like it or not, or small health issues that can beget serve health issues as time goes on, and so people who are should b able to find weight loss help instead of being politial correstness-hated on, its become just as toxic and dangerous as toxic diet culture on the other end of the spectrum. Political correctness with this has clearly gone way too far.

When I was young to lose weight I’d stop eating out as much, eat more Whole Foods, drink less & walk 30 minutes a day. I ate vegetarian. When I turned 40 my job became a 16 hour day job & had little control over my diet. So when I had down time I would try to go back to my old ways of losing weight with less success. I found the 17 Day Diet book on clearance at a closing Hastings store & began to follow each phase carefully not skipping ahead, grocery shopping & prepping my meals so when I went to work I had a plan. My Protein sources were soy mainly. The next time I did the diet my protein sources were fish & shell fish & most recently I added all Protein. What I like is there are 4 cycles so you add in more food. In each cycle & you lose weight pretty quickly the first phase which is motivating. This recent time I didn’t just eat chicken or fish on the first phase & I did eat a small healthy version of desert same evenings like chocolate covered frozen bananas or chocolate covered Açaí sorbet which I personally love anyway. I usually maintain my weight love for many years. For example I’m in my 50s now . In general keeping junk food out of my house, cooking at home & only drinking water plus cutting calories with some sugar free fat free foods, lower calorie options like bread with 45 calories over 60 or more & eating more fresh foods & protein in any form. In my 50s I’m focusing on building muscle too. In my opinion eating mindfully & with purpose helps me lose & keep weight off. Once I stop doing this the pounds come back on.

When I lose weight I am not intuitively eating nor am I doing so when I am indulging instead for a diet to be successful I have to have a plan & for me following the 17 Day Diet has been my favorite tool to do this. Although I was a Vegetarian & Pescatarian most of my adult life adding more protein & less carbs definitely helps. I am not a strict with the foods I eat as the book outlines but I follow the main principles & he even says in the back where he answers questions how to implement it on any eating style, vegan, vegetarian & has a section for eating out & gif International diets & people who work night shifts

I am a 5’5 foot woman & have weighed between 125-145 not pregnant for most of my adult life. At 145 I feel Pregnant. Because I gain all my weight in my tummy & back of the arms I can tell when I’ve gained weight. I definitely can go between conscious eating & unconscious eating. I often think of Siddartha the story about the Original Buddha seeking enlightenment & peace who practiced Austerity, then gluttony before finding the middle way, moderation as the key to Happiness.

Not everyone can indulge in moderation. No matter how long I allow myself to eat the junk food, it turns into a problem which quickly escalates into me feeling like crap and gaining weight fast! I'm like all of nothing! 😂

Oh Abby, girlie! I’m new to your channel and this video is epic! Every one of these items is revelatory, thanks so much. I’m dealing with some scary health issues (cancer) and I’ve asked my doctors so many times for eating advice. The answer is always, “well try to eat healthy and maybe lose some weight, but it probably won’t make a difference with the disease. WTF? How is that even remotely helpful? I so appreciate the concrete, evidence-based advice here. ❤❤❤❤

My issue is.. I’ll acknowledge that I’m no longer hungry while eating.. but continue to eat because the food tastes good. And then, I’ll eat more than I should but still want something sweet after on top of it even when full.

I dont know how to feel about the beginning of this video. The sience behind weightloss is a caloric deficit. I think nutritionists should speak more about this transparently, because no matter how good the „support and the tips“ are, when you eat over your calories you will gain weight. And people belive bs like this and think they have bad eating habtis or something is wrong with them.

When i stopped breast feeding I decided its time to loose that " baby fat"… Did some research and ended up doing a diet which yes helped me loose all those extra kg but it was soooo restricted. After 6 months i couldn't continue at all… I was so confused what's next…and this is when I come across with your channel.
Because of you I realised how abusive I was with my body and started to practice gentle nutrition.
    It was a game changer!
    So thank you again ❤
