For the first time in nearly two decades, power demand in the United States is on the rise. Electric utilities have nearly doubled their forecasts for additional power needs by 2028. To meet this growing demand and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, the Department of Energy (DOE) estimates that the country will need to triple its nuclear power output.

Solar and wind are undependable. Rivers are being "un-damed", gas, coal and other petroleum fire generators except home generators, at THIS time, are not efficient and being closed. SO, what else IS there? NUCLEAR!!!!!
Someone tell these environmentalists fools to stop making things worse in California.
SMRs are the way to go. About time.
A net zero emission is PIPEDREAM that will never ever happen. Lets go drilling and Nuclear!!
These environmental groups seem to have their head up their ass. Nuclear power is the most realistic and practical solution to going net zero in any reasonable time frame. The focus should be on improving the technology and making it more economical and environmentally friendly, not trying to get rid of it.
We have 54 plants making less than 20% of our electricity. Add in increasing numbers of EVs and usage of AI, we need to quintuple that to at least 250 or more plants. More like 300 plants with our growing immigrant population.
Nuclear is the way forward.
The fact that America hasn't "gone nuclear" yet shows how poorly it has been managed over the last half-century. Money-addicted sociopaths and their political counterparts are all trying to wring every dollar out of fossil fuels regardless of the ecosphere.
